Found in southern china and the warmer climates of Japan, the Cycad King Sago is believed to have been around since before the Jurrasic period. While extremely toxic if eaten raw, the starches inside of the King Sago’s trunk can be carefully washed and used in recipes such as Sago porridge. Be careful while handling the King Sago as its stems are covered in barbs and can break through skin.
